We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our Belgium-based team. In this role, you will serve as the bridge between customer requirements and our near-shore delivery teams, translating complex specifications into clear implementation guidance. You will design robust software architectures, lead technical reviews, and ensure that solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
Design software components and modules using appropriate modelling techniques, following agreed software design standards, patterns and methodology
Create and communicate alternative design views to identify and balance the concerns of all stakeholders. Identify and evaluate multiple design options and trade-offs, accounting for factors such as target environment, performance, security requirements and existing systems
Establish and promote development standards, leading by example to foster a culture of quality software engineering across all teams.
Collaborate closely with global teams – We shape opportunities and delivery projects in a close partnership with our Global Delivery Networks. You serve as the interface between customer requirements and near-shore delivery teams, ensuring clear translation of specifications into implementation guidance
Lead design reviews of others' work, against your specifications and standards
Model, simulate or prototype software to enable stakeholder feedback and approval
Drive Community & Business Development – Play an active role in Deloitte's Software Engineering Community of Practice, contributing technical expertise, sharing best practices, and mentoring peers. Additionally, you will participate as a subject matter expert in development-related Request for Proposals (RFPs), helping shape our service offerings and supporting business development initiatives that leverage software engineering and open-source technologies
Engage with our customers – You play a vital role in capturing key client requirements & concerns, and actively articulating tailor-made solutions that address these. You perform this across delivery of technology projects but also business development projects, where client requirements and technical criteria described in tender documents are to be converted into tailor-made architecture diagrams and descriptive, technical storytelling
Requirements
You have the following qualifications:
Educational Background – Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline
Software Engineering Expertise - At least 5 years of experience building backend services across different integration paradigms (synchronous API-driven, message-driven, event-driven …)
Technical Competency - Fluency in at least one of: Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Python, Go
Cloud Platform Proficiency - Recent experience building, deploying, and running cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure or other sovereign cloud providers
DevOps Fundamentals - Experience working in DevOps teams with industry-standard practices
Future Oriented - Interest in and hands-on experience with GenAI, or evidence of actively pursuing personal GenAI projects. Comfortable with change and eager to learn new technologies.
Team Player - Experience working in and leading teams, as well as growing the careers of team members
Language Proficiency – Professional-level English communication skills (C2 level or equivalent)

Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
AWS Certified Developer – Associate
Microsoft Azure Developer Associate
Any of the Oracle Java certifications
