Role Summary

A highly skilled and motivated Lead Aircraft Design Engineer is required to support the design and development of electric vertical take‑off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The role focuses on primary and secondary structures including Wing, Empennage, and Fuselage, integrating advanced technologies to achieve optimal performance. Experience in aircraft testing is considered an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver design and build services for prototype eVTOL aircraft.
Create composite and metallic structural designs, including detail and assembly definitions.
Develop and validate model‑based definitions within the 3DEXPERIENCE digital mock‑up (DMU).
Coordinate with Systems Integration teams to ensure structural compatibility with system routing.
Work within a team of engineers and report through designated Leads for programme alignment.
Support technical and customer reviews, including gate reviews and preparation of technical data.
Perform design activities and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to achieve design maturity.
Define design solutions for new and modified components (composite & metallic) considering cost, weight, manufacturability, serviceability, and performance.
Provide evidence of compliance with customer and technical specifications.
Prepare engineering drawings and documentation required for manufacturing and customer submission.
Produce Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to support manufacturing, quality, and certification.
Ensure high‑quality deliverables from self and team.
Act as a technical interface with certification authorities to ensure compliance with airworthiness standards.
Attend key meetings and design reviews at customer facilities (hybrid working possible based on project needs).

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Strong background in aircraft design; eVTOL experience is an advantage.
Expertise in primary and secondary aircraft structures: Wing, Empennage, Fuselage.
Hands‑on experience with CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE design and analysis methods.
Mandatory experience with Composites Design 3 (CPD) workbench and Fibresim.
Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as Windchill.
Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up.
Knowledge of composite and metallic materials and aerospace manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with aviation regulations and certification processes (FAA, EASA) is highly desirable.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
