Cyber Security Engineer - Entry Level
Hybrid: 4 Days a week, 1 Day Remote - Columbus, OH
Hourly Rate: $28/hour
6 Month Contract to Hire through our Elevate Program! Will convert at 6 months
W-2 with Brooksource - we and the end client are not able to provide sponsorship at this time
Detailed Description:
This role is an entry level position and ideal for a recent graduate interested in cybersecurity, risk management, governance, or technology operations. Candidates will gain exposure to real-world enterprise security challenges while in a highly collaborative environment. This individual will work cross-functionally with Cybersecurity, IT, Legal, Procurement, and Business stakeholders to help improve visibility into SaaS usage and strengthen risk management practices while enabling business innovation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist in identifying and cataloging SaaS application used across the organization.
Support SaaS intake and risk evaluation workflows.
Help document security and data risk findings.
Contribute to maintaining the enterprise SaaS catalog.
Assist in tracking program level Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
Support process documentation and playbook development.
Participate in cross-functional meetings and stakeholder discussions.
Conduct research on SaaS security practices and industry trends.
Assist in the improvement of governance workflows and automation opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
0 to 2 years of experience in a cybersecurity role with a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Business Technology, Risk Management, Computer Science or related field or equivalent transferable experience gained through coursework, internships, or co-op experience.
Basic understanding of SaaS and cloud technologies.
Experience working with spreadsheets and other forms of documentation.
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong aptitude with demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn business and technology processes and solutions.
Ability to manage tasks effectively, meet deadlines and stay organized with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with team members and stakeholders when sharing updates and presenting work in team settings.
Demonstrates basic active listening skills, paraphrases or summarizes key points from conversations, and asks clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Listens without interrupting and shows respect for others' viewpoints.

Preferred Requirements:
Experience with or exposure to Agile concepts, frameworks, and methodologies.
Proficient with moderately complex MS Excel spreadsheets (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, graphs, etc.).
Experience with or exposure to process mapping tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, etc.
Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts such as data classification, access control, vendor risk, etc.
Experience working with cross-functional teams or projects.
Interest in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC).
Interest in automation or programming with experience in scripting languages such as Python.
