Job Specifications
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented ServiceNow CMDB Configuration Engineer to join our team. This role has a strong focus on data quality, data governance, and reporting, leveraging data that already exists within the CMDB to ensure it is accurate, reliable, and actionable for the business.
The position combines technical configuration, deep CMDB analysis, dashboard building, and troubleshooting, within a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
CMDB Management & Data Governance
Manage and maintain the ServiceNow CMDB, ensuring the quality, consistency, and reliability of Configuration Items (CIs)
Perform regular audits to validate data integrity and compliance with organizational standards
Implement and maintain data reconciliation processes to reduce inconsistencies
Actively work on data quality and data governance related to discovered data
Configuration & Development
Configure and optimize CMDB modules and workflows according to organizational needs
Configure and manage Service Mapping, ensuring critical services are properly mapped and monitored
Develop and customize dashboards, reports, and forms within the ServiceNow platform using native and drag-and-drop tools
Support technical troubleshooting and, when required, contribute to the development of new features (not mandatory but valued)
Reporting, Dashboards & Monitoring
Build management-oriented dashboards and reports providing clear visibility into the current state of the CMDB
Configure CMDB health checks based on organizational criteria to identify priority areas
Analyze CMDB data to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement
Stakeholder Collaboration & Support
Work closely with IT Operations, Application Owners, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and define standards
Provide guidance and training to internal teams on CMDB best practices and usage
Collaborate with incident response teams to ensure CMDB data supports root cause analysis and incident resolution
Platform Stability & Incident Support
Support platform stability and usability by resolving issues and managing system updates
Ensure the CMDB effectively supports Incident and Change Management processes
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of experience, or equivalent experience
Proven experience managing and configuring ServiceNow CMDB, including Service Mapping
Strong knowledge of ITIL, particularly Configuration Management and Change Management
Solid understanding of ServiceNow platform capabilities, including forms, dashboards, and reporting
Experience with testing practices (unit, system integration, and UAT)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Knowledge of scripting, troubleshooting, and a development background
Preferred Skills
Experience with Discovery and Event Management in ServiceNow
Knowledge of Performance Analytics and report implementation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience creating technical documentation and training materials
