Category Analyst - Raw Materials

About The Role
We are looking for a Category Analyst for our Procurement organization in the Raw Materials Team based in Montreal, Qc.
Main responsibilities include but not limited to the management of supply chain, purchase orders, expediting, inventory, and performance reporting. The analyst will structure the spend analysis, be accountable for data management, and participate in the forecasting for all the categories in the scope of the team: graphite electrodes, anthracite, cathodes, fluoride, refractories, steel and copper. Part of the raw materials team, the analyst may be involved in every stage of the sourcing cycle from the fact base analysis, launching bid process and analysis and participate in contract management.
To be effective in this role, you will be required to:
• Be able to develop a high level of trust and work in a matrix environment: develop strong relationship with internal stakeholders in order to better support the business requirements
• Develop and manage collaborative relationships with end users, logistics, market analysis finance, accounts payable and many other colleagues in the commercial organization
• Be organized with data files and be effective in dealing with multiple priorities and time pressure at times.
• Drive strategy implementation with an efficient communication

Your mission will be to:
• Participate in the development of inspiring category strategies to maximize value that will drive competitive advantage and meet Rio Tinto governance requirements;
• Support and/or Manage supply chain activities including trial volume, quality tracking and problem solving, maintain databases for demand planning, inventory and working capital tracking
• Analyze market data to feed the total cost model and deliver most accurate forecasted spend Perform data analysis leading to accurate business cases, delivery of monthly spend forecasts and reporting on spend and realized savings
• Manage the onboard of new suppliers, issue purchase orders, expedite arrival of orders with suppliers
• Performance reporting and systems managements
• Manage and solve accounts payable issues
• Support the category strategy development and identify new opportunities for savings and improvements on total cost of ownership, inventory and trade working capital;
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will need:
• Bachelor Degree in Commerce / Business /Finance, Engineering or equivalent;
• Previous experience with multi-national companies in Mining, Manufacturing or Automotive industries;
• Minimum of 5 years of procurement, supply chain and or/commercial experience
• Be fluent in SAP, Excel and Ariba
• Strong project management, creative problem solving, continuous improvement and customer/supplier relationship management skills;
• Ability to achieve outcomes through partnership, collaboration and positive influence;
• Strong analytical capability and the ability to effectively collate and compile data;
• Ability to develop clear and succinct reports for decision making including scenario analysis and trade offs
• Ability to communicate succinctly verbally and in written form with both internal and external stakeholders;
• An ability to work unsupervised and be a self-starter;
• English and French proficiency
• Experience in operations is an advantage
