Data Engineer – Contract Role

Inside IR35 | £425/day | Hybrid (Central London, 1 day/week) | Initial 4 Months | ASAP Start

We’re hiring a Data Engineer with 4-5 years of experience to support a growing data team as they enhance and streamline their Azure-based data environment. The business is modernising its data platform, improving pipeline reliability, and increasing automation across key workflows.

You’ll work closely with the programme team to solve complex document analysis problems, build efficient scripts, and create high‑quality Excel outputs with advanced formatting using Python libraries.

You must be available within the next 2 weeks and able to be onsite in Central London 1 day per week.

Key Responsibilities

Build Python scripts to analyse, process, and report on large document datasets
Use pandas, xlsxwriter, and zipfile to automate workflows and generate outputs
Write clean Excel outputs with advanced formatting and validation
Solve complex data and document structure problems with minimal supervision
Support the wider programme with insights, troubleshooting, and validation logic

Ideal Profile

Fast learner that can work with minimal supervision
Hands-on experience with Azure Data Engineering tools
Strong skills in SQL and Python
Experience working with data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and cloud-based workflows
Exposure to Databricks or modern data platforms (nice-to-have)
Strong communicator with a proactive, collaborative mindset
