Role Description

We’re looking for a Software Technical Lead (Web) to take hands-on technical ownership of a high-profile, customer-facing e-commerce platform in the transportation sector.

This is a contract, remote role (UK-based), with permanent options open to discussion.

You’ll lead a small web team delivering a cloud-native platform used by thousands of customers. This role combines technical depth, delivery oversight, and cultural leadership.

This is not a purely managerial role — you’ll remain close to the code while shaping standards, improving reliability, and ensuring consistent delivery against contractual and commercial objectives.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
Technical ownership of a modern web platform (React / Next.js / AWS)
Leading a team of engineers and QA (agency and contract environment)
Balancing new feature delivery with technical debt reduction
Improving reliability and reducing preventable incidents
Running and strengthening Agile delivery practices
Designing and evolving AWS-based, serverless architectures
Ensuring strong governance, accountability, and engineering standards
Collaborating cross-functionally to align business and technical priorities

Technical Environment
TypeScript
React / Next.js
AWS (serverless architecture)
Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK)

Qualifications
6+ years’ experience in software engineering (full-stack web)
Strong hands-on experience designing and building systems on AWS
Experience leading technical direction within a delivery team
Practical experience working in Agile environments (ceremonies, forecasting, throughput)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate autonomously
Comfortable working in remote, collaborative environments

AWS certifications are welcome but not essential — we value practical experience.
