Primary Purpose

This role will support Finance and Security projects which are application lifecycle projects.

Within Exelon’s C&CP’s Finance, Security, and Corporate Applications IT Department, this Principal Project Manager directs activities relating to project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, forecasting and closure leading end‑to‑end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) projects. The Principal Project Manager will be building, and supporting high quality solutions, products, and processes for Exelon IT. Also, the Principal PM will have tightly focused budget responsibility for medium to large complexity projects, sub-projects, and process components.

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

**This is a multiple‑location posting. The selected candidate may be based out of our Exelon Corporate Office locations in Philadelphia, PA, Baltimore, MD, Chicago, IL, Oakbrook Terrace, IL, Washington, DC**

Primary Duties

Lead and manage IT projects and associated system integrators to deliver medium‑ to high‑complexity programs on time, within budget, and at the highest level of quality. Ensure project documentation is complete, clear, and compliant with established standards. (25%)
Lead and manage IT internal staff and product resources in alignment with the IT Business Plan. Plan and manage scope, schedule, and budget for defined deliverables in accordance with IT project management standards and PMBOK practices. Develop project requirements, budgets, and schedules; facilitate requirements meetings; establish milestones; anticipate issues; and ensure adherence to project scope, design documents, timelines, and quality expectations. Ensure all project documentation meets required standards. (20%)
Collaborate and influence the application of standard processes as defined within the Management Model. Oversee process improvement initiatives and promote the adoption of best practices that drive sustainable top‑quartile cost and performance levels. (15%)
Establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships with business stakeholders, IT partners, and vendors. Communicate project status regularly, escalate risks appropriately, and maintain strong engagement with all project and operational stakeholders. (15%)
Evaluate performance and provide coaching for IT personnel. Participate in career development and succession planning, promote diversity, and foster a collaborative, high‑performing, learning‑oriented team environment. Contribute to development and retention planning for IT staff. (15%)
Maintain advanced business acumen, including expertise in applying technology solutions to achieve business results. Leverage technical knowledge and best practices to improve products, services, and team performance. (10%)

Utilize understanding of customer's business needs to determine requirements and help set direction.
Determine and helps others learn appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate to their skill set portfolio and related sciences and disciplines.
Prepares comprehensive change procedures for major projects. Plays a lead role in cost/benefit analysis or feasibility studies to determine the effect of changes on a project.
Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to develop and secure critical contracts. Trains others in project management techniques. Resolves complex problems and takes corrective action. Takes a lead role in the successful turnaround of a struggling, difficult, or challenging project.
