Job Specifications

Kong API Developer - Hybrid (Fort Mill, SC)

Seeking an experienced Kong API Developer to design, deploy, and manage API gateways using Kong Enterprise. You'll configure plugins, routes, services, and consumers while ensuring high availability, security, and performance for microservices architectures.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain Kong API gateways in hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
Implement authentication (OAuth/JWT), rate limiting, and traffic management.
Integrate Kong with Kubernetes, Docker, and databases (PostgreSQL/Cassandra).
Monitor APIs using Prometheus/Grafana and optimize for production scale.
Collaborate with DevOps/backend teams on CI/CD pipelines (GitLab/Jenkins).

Requirements

3+ years with Kong Gateway/Enterprise, Lua scripting, and OpenResty.
Strong Kubernetes/Helm and declarative config (DecK/YAML) experience.
Familiarity with AWS/GCP, Kong plugins, and API standards (REST/gRPC).
BS in Computer Science or equivalent; hybrid work (3 days onsite).
