Lead Innovation in Electric Vehicle Battery Management
Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We are the EV industry leader in providing highest driving range to our customers with our state-of-the-art Battery Management System (BMS). Our team is currently seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer - Battery Software, Summer 2026 Intern. This position requires an individual with a background in application and low-level driver software development on embedded systems.
This Embedded Firmware Engineer - Battery Software, Summer 2026 Intern position plays a key role in developing world class battery management software. This role is responsible for developing & delivering software solutions for real time embedded systems and being responsible for development of highly reliable software. The ideal candidate is result driven, adaptable with a can-do attitude and is a quick learner to strive for highest quality work products within a fast-paced environment.
You Will
Work in a dynamic, cross-functional team to advance our cutting-edge battery management and energy intelligence features
Lead and contribute to our world-acclaimed battery products for mass-market passenger vehicles and stationary energy storage applications
Write highest quality production quality code for real-time embedded systems using C or other language
Design, develop and take ownership of mission and safety-critical features like state machine, fault handling, and diagnostics for battery and energy products
Interface with hardware peripherals and implement serial communication protocols
Verify software using unit test and hardware-in-the-loop test framework
Develop software tools and scripts for various software and hardware integration tests
Debug the hardware and software time critical issues utilizing debugging tools
Support the Battery Software department with additional duties/tasks as needed
Education
Field(s) of study: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or other related technical fields is required.
Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD at an accredited university.
Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS, PhD)
You Have
Embedded software development experience including architecture, design, coding, verification, validation, release, and maintenance
Development experience using C programming language
Experience in multi-core software development for safety critical systems
Experience working with schematics and hardware peripheral interface
Advantageous Qualifications
Experience developing Battery Management Systems or EV industry experience
Working knowledge of AUTOSAR
Working knowledge of Automotive Ethernet, UDS, or serial protocols
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Python
Experience working with schematics and hardware peripheral interface
Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and/or software engineering processes
Program Information
Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be office work.
Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $50 to $70.
Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
