**Job title**
Technical Architect
**Role Summary**
Lead the design, development, and delivery of a unified, scalable architecture across all retail, POS, loyalty, and e‑commerce channels. Own the entire technology stack, from cloud infrastructure to integration patterns, ensuring high performance, security, and compliance while guiding a small specialist team.
**Expectations**
- Hands‑on technical leader with 8+ years of development/architecture experience, including 3+ years of direct leadership.
- Proven track record in multi‑site, high‑traffic retail, travel or e‑commerce environments.
- Ability to work 4–5 days onsite in the initial phase, transitioning to hybrid as embedded into the team.
- Strong commercial orientation: translate business goals into robust, cost‑effective technical solutions.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Own and evolve the end‑to‑end architecture for stores, production, POS, loyalty, and website platforms.
2. Design and implement SOA, API‑driven integrations, and cloud‑native microservices.
3. Manage CIAM, security policies, and token handling (OAuth2/OIDC).
4. Optimize system performance, ensuring low‑latency, high‑availability solutions.
5. Lead IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud cost optimisation across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
6. Champion compliance with PCI‑DSS, CIS benchmarks, and ISO 27001.
7. Build end‑to‑end observability for all retail and digital channels.
8. Mentor a small, specialist team while remaining fully hands‑on.
9. Translate retail and e‑commerce initiatives (Click & Collect, headless, omnichannel) into technical roadmaps.
10. Communicate trade‑offs and decisions clearly to stakeholders.
**Required Skills**
- Deep expertise in SOA, API design, and distributed systems.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and IaC tools.
- Proven integration of POS, WMS, CRM, loyalty, or similar retail systems.
- Familiarity with Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify Plus, or comparable e‑commerce frameworks.
- Strong security knowledge: Auth0, OAuth2, OIDC, PCI‑DSS, ISO 27001.
- Solid networking fundamentals and performance tuning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Professional cloud certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
- Security certifications such as CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Lead Auditor, or PCI‑DSS Qualified Security Assessor.
