**Job Title**: Head of Kubernetes
**Role Summary**: Senior individual‑contributor leading the design, operation, and continuous evolution of production Kubernetes services on AWS EKS. Owns end‑to‑end platform epics, sets technical direction, and ensures reliable, secure, and scalable cluster delivery.
**Expectations**:
- Deliver enterprise‑scale EKS deployments with strong ownership of lifecycle, upgrades, security, networking, and multi‑cluster strategy.
- Champion GitOps practices using ArgoCD/Flux, infrastructure‑as‑code via Terraform, and robust CI/CD pipelines.
- Partner cross‑functionally with application, security, and architecture teams while providing technical leadership through design reviews, pair programming, and mentoring.
- Maintain high platform reliability, respond to production incidents, and continuously improve ops processes.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Design, build, and operate production‑grade EKS clusters at scale.
2. Own cluster lifecycle: upgrades, patching, security hardening, networking, and multi‑cluster management.
3. Architect and deploy GitOps pipelines (ArgoCD/Flux) for application rollout.
4. Build and maintain Terraform modules for cluster provisioning and management.
5. Operate platform reliability, monitor health, and drive incident response and post‑mortem improvement.
6. Collaborate with application, security, and architecture teams to align on Kubernetes usage, best practices, and compliance.
7. Lead design reviews, pair programming sessions, and mentor junior/peer engineers.
**Required Skills**:
- Deep, hands‑on Kubernetes production experience, preferably on AWS EKS.
- Expertise in Kubernetes networking, security, and multi‑tenancy.
- Proficient with Terraform and CI/CD pipeline development.
- Hands‑on GitOps experience with ArgoCD or Flux.
- Strong AWS background; Azure or GCP knowledge is a plus.
- Solid networking fundamentals (VPC, CIDR, routing, firewalls, DNS).
- Comfortable with Linux CLI, Bash scripting, and Python.
- Familiarity with CNCF tools such as Cilium, Kyverno, Karpenter, Helm, and Prometheus is desirable.
- Experience with internal developer platforms or self‑service portals.
**Required Education & Certifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Kubernetes Certified Engineer (CKA) or Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) preferred.
