Job Description
Job Title: Yard Person Role Summary: Manages yard operations, maintains and inventories equipment, ensures accurate vehicle and equipment tracking, provides customer service, performs basic maintenance and safety tasks, and supports logistics and shipping. Expectations: - Deliver safe, accurate yard and equipment records - Maintain a clean, organized yard and work area - Provide courteous customer service and professional assistance - Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and compact construction equipment safely - Handle light lifting (up to 50 lb) and working outside in all weather Key Responsibilities: - Update database with equipment locations and transaction records - Inspect, wash, detail, and prepare equipment for rental or return - Verify 360° inspections, fuel levels, and damage reports before billing - Load/unload equipment onto trailers, spot heavy‑machinery operators - Perform general shop and yard maintenance, including snow removal and weed control - Assist with shipping, receiving, and parts inventory as needed - Deliver equipment and parts via ½‑ to 1‑ton trucks to and from job sites Required Skills: - Forklift and pallet‑jack operation (indoor/outdoor) - Proficient computer use, data entry, and ERP/application tracking - Multitasking, organization, and detail orientation in fast‑paced environments - Strong verbal and written communication; positive interpersonal attitude - Physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 lb - Valid driver’s licence with clean record; ability to drive ½‑to‑1‑ton trucks Required Education & Certifications: - High‑school diploma or equivalent - Valid driver’s licence (clean record) - Safety training for operating forklifts/compact construction equipment (training provided)
