Job Description
**Job Title** Yard Person **Role Summary** Maintain yard operations, manage equipment inventory, provide excellent customer service, and support shipping/receiving and facility upkeep in a fast‑paced industrial setting. **Expectations** * Maintain accurate equipment location and transaction records in the yard database. * Perform equipment cleaning, detailing, and basic maintenance. * Inspect and report equipment conditions (damage, fuel, cleanliness). * Load/unload and transport equipment using truck and trailer. * Spot heavy‑machinery operators and support safe vehicle operations. * Carry out general yard and shop maintenance duties. * Drive ½‑ton to 1‑ton trucks, navigate variable road conditions, and deliver parts. * Adhere to workplace health and safety practices at all times. **Key Responsibilities** * Update equipment location and transaction logs. * Wash, clean, detail, and inspect equipment in the yard. * Load/unload equipment onto trailers; prepare/deploy equipment in yard. * Spot heavy‑machinery operators and ensure safe operations. * Deliver compact construction equipment and parts via truck and trailer. * Maintain clean work area, tools, and general yard grounds (snow removal, weed control). * Assist with shipping/receiving and parts inventory as needed. * Conduct minor building repairs and general shop maintenance. * Provide exceptional customer service and communicate with rental coordinators. * Follow all workplace health and safety protocols. **Required Skills** * Operate forklifts, compact construction equipment, and pallet jacks (training provided). * Familiarity with compact construction equipment (plus). * Strong computer skills with high attention to detail. * Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work in a fast‑paced environment. * Effective verbal and written communication. * Positive attitude, teamwork orientation, and customer‑focused mindset. * Valid driver’s licence, clean driving record, and capability to drive ½‑ton to 1‑ton trucks. * Physical endurance for walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs. * Ability to work outdoors in frequent exposure to elements. **Required Education & Certifications** * High‑school diploma or equivalent. * Experience: 1–2 years in an industrial environment with equipment organization. * Operating equipment experience advantageous. * ERP or equipment‑tracking application experience beneficial. * No specific certifications required; training provided on equipment operation and safety.
