Job Title: 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer (Azure)
Role Summary: Provide 3rd‑line architecture, support, and optimisation of Azure and Microsoft 365 solutions. Lead design, deployment, and migration of hybrid infrastructures, manage Windows Server and Active Directory, virtualisation, networking, security, and device management. Produce technical documentation and mentor junior staff.
Expectations: Deliver high‑availability, secure, and cost‑optimised cloud and on‑premises environments. Communicate complex solutions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Own and resolve critical incidents autonomously. Support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide third‑line support for Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows Server, and AD environments.
- Design, deploy, and optimise Azure and Microsoft 365 architectures, including hybrid cloud solutions.
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, and security issues across cloud and on‑premises platforms.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, and infrastructure diagrams.
- Mentor junior engineers and facilitate knowledge‑sharing sessions.
- Manage device onboarding, zero‑touch deployments, and Intune policies.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and manage service‑level objectives.
Required Skills:
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Azure (deployment, management, optimisation).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD) identity and security.
- Experience with Intune, Windows Autopilot, and zero‑touch device management.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization (VMware).
- Solid networking knowledge: firewalls, VPN, VLANs, and network design.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve intricate infrastructure and networking problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self‑driven, autonomous problem‑solving abilities.
- Own UK driving licence (car preferred).
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or equivalent certification.
- Additional certification in virtualization (e.g., VMware Certified Professional) and security (e.g., CompTIA Security+) is advantageous.
