Job Description
Job Title: Personal Support Worker Role Summary: Provide front‑line personal care and support to residents in a long‑term care setting, ensuring their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. Operate under nursing supervision, documentation systems, and regulatory standards while fostering a respectful, home‑like environment. Expectations: - Work up to 16 hours per week, evening shift (1500‑2300). - Maintain a current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check, TB test, and other mandatory health checks. - Adhere to the Residents’ Bill of Rights, Ministry of Long‑Term Care compliance, and organisational policies. - Function independently while collaborating with nursing and support teams. Key Responsibilities: - Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal care. - Observe, document, and report changes in resident status in Point of Care/POC systems. - Maintain equipment and residents’ personal belongings. - Provide courteous, customer‑centered service to residents, families, and staff. - Follow directions from registered staff and participate in quality improvement initiatives. - Additional duties as assigned by supervisors or the care team. Required Skills: - Team‑oriented with strong oral and written communication. - Understanding of Residents’ Bill of Rights and regulatory compliance. - Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to individual resident needs. - Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic health record systems (e.g., PCC/POC). Required Education & Certifications: - Secondary school diploma or equivalent. - Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized post‑secondary institution. - Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening (within the past 6 months). - Current tuberculosis (TB) test or QuantiFERON‑TB Gold result (within the past 6 months).
