Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Project Manager to play a key role in managing the reporting and monitoring processes for a high-profile National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) portfolio of translational, clinical, and applied health research infrastructure funding schemes. The successful candidate will also provide essential project management support across the team's wider activities.
Reporting to the Senior Research Manager for Infrastructure Monitoring and Evaluation and working closely with others, the post holder will project manage the infrastructure award reporting and monitoring activities. Infrastructure award holders report to NIHR on the progress of their awards on an annual, or in some cases quarterly, basis. The postholder will plan and ensure delivery of the end-to-end process, including the creation of reporting templates, collection of reports, their review by appropriate NIHR teams and the provision of feedback to award holders.
Working with the Assistant Director of Research Infrastructure, the postholder will also provide project management support for key team activities, including business planning and budget management.
You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and interact with teams across NIHR to develop and coordinate activities. We are looking for someone with a broad perspective of academia, funding, and health related policy. You should be confident interacting with your peers and the external scientific community; able to demonstrate critical thinking, and an ability to influence and build productive relationships. Meticulous project management skills, with the ability to deliver multiple priorities simultaneously, is essential.
Key Responsibilities :
Project Management for the Infrastructure Annual Reporting Programme: project manage the end-to-end delivery of the Infrastructure Annual Reporting cycle, including planning, ensuring input from various teams across NIHR and conducting appropriate team briefings. You will work closely with the Senior Programme Analyst, and Senior Research Manager and Research Manager for monitoring and evaluation in the Infrastructure team, who manage the development of annual reporting templates and the use of submitted data.
Infrastructure Team Project Management: support the team's forward business planning and monitoring of progress against milestones; support the budget planning; maintain the team's SOPs and workflows; and provide project planning and management on ad hoc projects.
Flexible support to team and community: conduct additional administration tasks and provide a high level of support across the team at peak work times.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Criteria:
A Masters or PhD degree in biomedical or health sciences research (or significant equivalent sector experience)
Some experience of working in one of the following environments: Major research funding/management environment; Project management within the NHS or HEIs or clinical trial/study coordination or applied health areas; Pharma/biotech; Academic environment
Experience of project management with excellent planning and organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, working to challenging targets and deadlines
Evidence of ability to write reports, SOPs and briefing documents, data analysis skills, demonstrating excellent attention to detail
Team player with an ability to build effective working relationships
Desirable Criteria:
Current knowledge of the UK's health and care research and policy landscape
Formal project management qualifications
Experience in the research/grants management
Experience in stakeholder management within and across multiple organisations
Compensation, Benefits & Working Arrangements:
Salary: PS40,300 to PS42,600 pa
Location: Twickenham, London / Hybrid working model
Contract Type: Full Time,12 months fixed term contract
Working Hours: 7.5 hours per day
Annual Leave: 25 days, plus UK public holidays
