About the Role
We are seeking an elite Solution Engineer - Agile/Scrum Delivery Master (Freelance) to join our client's high-impact modernization initiative in Brussels. This is a hands-on, expert-level opportunity to drive the delivery of robust, cloud-native solutions in a mission-critical environment. You'll join a team of seasoned professionals, all dedicated to building products that matter and shaping the future of digital services.

As a Solution Engineer and Agile/Scrum Delivery Master, you will be at the heart of designing, building, and deploying secure, scalable solutions that directly support our client's mission. Your expertise will ensure the team delivers high-quality products, on time, in a complex, multilingual environment where every decision counts.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, manage, and deploy IT solutions as a core member of a multidisciplinary, expert team
Lead and coordinate Agile/Scrum delivery, actively participating in all sprint events (planning, refinements, retrospectives, demos, daily)
Develop and maintain medium- and long-term release calendars, factoring in external dependencies and future projections
Guide the team in designing and developing secure, robust, and cloud-native solutions
Drive the implementation and integration of APIs and microservices in hybrid cloud environments
Champion event-driven architectures, including event sourcing and event handling
Continuously update and share knowledge on new tools, frameworks, and best practices within the team
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity
Propose alternative solutions and make recommendations based on a holistic understanding of the project context
Maintain a hands-on approach to coordination, follow-up, adjustment, design, and implementation
Technical Skills & Experience
10+ years of hands-on experience in Java SE development, including at least 5 years with Java SE10+
10+ years of experience in API design, definition, and development
10+ years of experience in microservices development and integration
5+ years of experience with event-driven architecture and systems (event sourcing and event handling)
5+ years of experience in software design (cloud, API, microservices, eventing)
5+ years of hands-on experience as a Scrum/Agile Delivery Master, ideally within greenfield software projects using APIs, microservices, eventing, and native cloud technologies
3+ years of experience implementing Agile frameworks such as SAFe or LeSS
2+ years of experience with Azure DevOps for managing Agile software/solution delivery
Knowledge and practical use of Behavioral or Domain Driven Design, Development, and Testing is a plus
Familiarity with the Angular framework is an asset
Language Proficiency
Very good (active) knowledge of English
Very good (active) knowledge of Dutch
Very good (active) knowledge of French
Other Requirements
Degree in higher education in computer science (short or long type) from a recognized European university or college (diploma must be available with CV)
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a high-performing team
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, can-do attitude
Commitment to continuous learning and staying up to date with the latest trends and innovations in software/solution development
Willingness to work on-site in Brussels at least three days per week (hybrid model)
This is a freelance position with a fixed 12-month duration
