Job Title: Data Governance Lead
Location: Hybrid - 3 days in office (Wednesday fixed, other two days flexible)

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Data Governance Pod Lead, the Data Governance Lead will manage data governance activities for the assigned Asset Class and Data Domain. The role involves delivering the data governance program stream, coordinating business and technology stakeholders, and applying the new data management framework across both change and BAU activities. The Data Governance Lead will also provide thought leadership in one or more Data Management Specialisms (e.g., Metadata Management, Data Quality, Data Access Management) and collaborate closely with Front Office business and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance Program Delivery:
Lead a delivery stream and bring priority datasets under governance through Metadata, Data Quality, and Data Access & Sharing Management activities.
Metadata Management: Define in-scope data assets, identify CDEs, map CDEs to the Glossary, propose new Glossary terms, and identify critical data consumers.
Data Quality Management: Analyze data through profiling, define business DQ rules, document existing controls, create executable DQ rules, and review results with key stakeholders.
Data Access & Sharing Management: Identify dataset sources and consumers, and ensure appropriate access and sharing controls are implemented and documented.
Organize and/or support Working Group meetings, tracking delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, and issues.
Manage relationships with delivery resources and stakeholders, including data role holders and users across seniority levels.
Provide data expertise to business leads for decision-making on data management priorities.
Conduct Data Capability Maturity Assessments with key stakeholders.
Data Management Thought Leadership:
Lead discussions on approach, design, and strategy for one Data Management Expertise Area (e.g., Data Domains, CDE Identification, DQ Automation).
Provide expert guidance to the Data Team and wider stakeholders.
Collaborate with other company divisions and external consultancies to define enterprise-wide approaches.
Must-Have Requirements:
3-5 years of relevant experience in data quality, metadata, and data governance.
Experience building dashboards using Databricks and Power BI.
Developing automated solutions for key control gap detection using metadata.
Data profiling and analysis; defining and implementing business DQ rules and executable DQ rules.
Technical and analytical expertise with Databricks, Purview, Alteryx, Power BI, VBA, Power Query, and dashboard optimization.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders from different business areas.
Ability to translate technical language into simple terms.
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and MS Office Suite (Excel - VLOOKUP, pivot tables, VBA; Visio).
Capital markets experience is preferred.
Nice-to-Have:
Knowledge of jurisdictional and company-specific regulations (BCBS239, Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID, CAT NMS, IIROC).
Experience in a Big 5 Canadian financial institution in regulatory environments.
Working experience or knowledge of Purview.
Background as a BSA or in testing.
Soft Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication.
Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
