Location: Bakersfield, CA or Irving, TX
Hours: 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM (California) | 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (Texas) - includes 30-minute lunch
6 Month Contract w/potential conversion
Pay: 28-30/hr.
Job Description
The IT Support Specialist provides technical support for end users and IT systems, including PCs, servers, networks, and software applications. Responsibilities include:
Support for PC, network, and server hardware and software applications, including MS Outlook, MS Office, Virtual Desktop, VPN, Active Directory, MDT imaging, Cisco network hardware, facility cabling, RF equipment, SysAid/ServiceNow, and other computing devices
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, escalating complex problems to lead administrators or management as needed
Operate effectively in a highly regulated environment, adapting communication style to diverse audiences, remaining calm under pressure, and providing clear, concise technical guidance
Collaborate with associates across cultures, countries, and time zones, delivering strong verbal and written communication
Install, configure, and maintain Windows systems, including OS deployment, driver/firmware management, and desktop security tools
Troubleshoot Windows 10, Office 365, browsers, BitLocker, Teams, OneDrive, and supporting infrastructures
Apply fundamental networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, firewalls, proxies) in day-to-day support
Provide setup, deployment, and ongoing support for mobile devices, warehouse devices, printers, RF units, and terminals
Assist in evaluating, selecting, deploying, and supporting new hardware/software solutions, including virtualized environments (Hyper-V, RemoteApp, Citrix, WVD)
Monitor on-site IT systems, including backups, UPS, and server/network equipment
Engage with external vendors for support and service coordination
Conduct end-user training and support sessions
Maintain technical documentation, assist in technology planning and budgeting, and identify process improvement opportunities
Track spare inventory and electronic waste
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of IT support experience
High school diploma or Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
ITIL certification preferred but not required
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of Windows, Office 365, Citrix, Azure AD, and cloud-based tools
Familiarity with ServiceNow or SysAid, incident/problem/change management processes
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration skills
