Senior Business Analyst (Retail System Migration - Brussels Area) – Freelance

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join one of our customers in the retail sector for a long-term freelance mission. The consultant will support a major transformation program aimed at replacing an in-store legacy retail system (20+ years old) with a modern POS platform — OmniPOS.

The initiative represents a greenfield system migration, with the full landscape to be replaced by 2027. The Business Analyst will work as part of a broader team of analysts documenting the “as-is” system, while taking ownership of defining and elaborating the “to-be” processes and system documentation for the new solution.

This role is ideal for a consultant experienced in large-scale retail or POS transformation projects, with strong analytical and documentation skills and an understanding of store operations and front-end retail systems.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the existing BA team to document current (“as-is”) system processes and architecture
Lead the definition and documentation of the future (“to-be”) system landscape around GK OmniPOS
Liaise with IT, business stakeholders, and vendor teams to gather requirements and validate business needs
Translate business requirements into clear functional documentation to guide implementation
Support workshops, gap analyses, and data migration planning activities
Ensure alignment between business processes and new POS solution capabilities
Contribute to testing preparation, validation, and change management efforts
Maintain documentation consistency and traceability throughout the migration program

Profile

5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, ideally within retail or system migration contexts
Proven track record in documenting business processes and defining functional requirements
Experience with POS or in-store retail systems is a strong plus
Familiarity with system migration projects (legacy-to-modern transitions)
English required; Dutch and/or French are considered strong assets

START DATE: ASAP

DURATION: 24 months (6 month renewable contracts)

CONTRACT: Freelance

LOCATION: Brussels Area (1–2 days/week on-site)

HOURS PER WEEK: 40

LANGUAGES: English (Dutch/French a plus)
