Senior Accountant – 6-Month Contract (Hybrid | Mississauga)

Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid – 2–3 days in office)

Contract Duration: 6 Months (possibility of extension)

Are you an experienced accounting professional looking for your next opportunity within a fast-paced distribution environment? Our client, a well-established distribution company in Mississauga, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team on a 6-month contract with potential for extension.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic organization, supporting full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end / year-end closing activities.
Prepare and review financial statements, general ledger reports, and supporting schedules.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with the FP&A team.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial transactions and compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
Support audit preparation and liaise with internal and external auditors as required.
Perform account analysis, reconciliations, and investigate discrepancies or variances.
Partner with cross-functional teams (operations, procurement, logistics) to support business decisions with financial insights.
Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives to drive efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

4+ years of experience with full-cycle accounting and month-end close processes.
Proficiency with large ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Power Query, data analysis).
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA designation (or in progress) is an asset.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
