Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Financial Analyst, Supply Chain to join our Finance team.
The Financial Analyst, Supply Chain will provide financial analysis and business decision support to our partners. We are looking for someone who will build strong relationships with our stakeholders and who loves to crunch numbers and tell stories.
This role can be based out of one of our Western offices: Calgary, AB; Victoria, BC; or Vancouver, BC.
Here’s Where You’ll Be Focusing
Build and maintain monthly financial reporting to present actuals versus budget/forecast and provide meaningful and relevant variance analysis and commentary to business partners
Build and maintain weekly reporting on key financial and operational metrics and effectively communicate results to business partners
Identify risks and opportunities to address, to drive savings
Perform complex financial analysis on key metrics, effectively communicating insights and financial recommendations to business partners to drive decision making.
Build financial models to understand implications of decisions and against which to measure results.
Support dynamic re-forecasting by assessing historical performance and future plans, in order to forecast future costs versus budget
Support annual budgeting process by performing detailed financial modeling, working closely with functional business partners
Drive continuous improvement in finance processes and reporting activities. Put forward suggestions to improve functional area processes while providing excellent level of customer service to all levels of the business
Adhere to GAAP/IFRS, Sobeys Accounting Standards & policies and CEO/CFO Certification requirements
Partner with Corporate FP&A and other National Finance teams to ensure consistency in reporting and budgeting approach to achieve corporate requirements
Prepare various ad-hoc reporting requests, as needed
What You Will Bring To The Table
An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
Holding a recognized professional accounting designation, such as CPA would be an asset
Advanced Excel skills (comfortable working with large data sets and using pivot tables, v-lookup, etc.)
Working knowledge of SAP would be an asset
Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain solid interpersonal relationships and to work well within a team
Analytical mind, with the ability to analyze large data sets and tell stories from the data
Takes initiative, while working autonomously and resourcefully
