Interim IT Operations Lead (Deputising for Head of IT & Data)

Remote (UK-based) | ⏳ 6-Month Contract | £450 - £500pd Outside IR35

We’re supporting an organisation undergoing a period of significant change, and they’re seeking an experienced Interim IT Operations Lead to step in and provide leadership across day-to-day technology operations.

Acting as the deputy to the Head of IT & Data, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping services stable, teams aligned, and delivery moving forward while the wider transformation takes shape.

What You’ll Be Doing

Take operational ownership of IT services, ensuring continuity, reliability, and strong performance.
Act as second-in-command to the Head of IT & Data, representing them as needed in meetings and decision-making.
Guide teams responsible for infrastructure, service delivery, and data governance (around 40 people, including direct reports).
Manage BAU activity and smaller non-CRM projects to maintain business performance.
Drive improvement through automation, better tooling, and process optimisation.
Support financial and resource planning across IT and Data teams.
Champion compliance, security, and governance best practices.
Promote a positive team culture built around collaboration, transparency, and accountability.

About You

A seasoned IT operations or infrastructure leader with experience in complex environments.
Comfortable deputising for a senior IT leader, maintaining momentum at both operational and strategic levels.
Excellent at delivery, communication, and stakeholder management.
Confident managing mixed technical and data-focused teams.
Educated to degree level, with relevant technical or management qualifications (postgrad desirable).
