Required Skills & Experience

· 5+ years in risk management, governance, regulatory compliance, or operational controls.

· Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting.

· Strong experience in Capital Markets, including familiarity of trading products, processes and related risks.

· Proven familiarity with operational risk identification processes (i.e. RCSAs and CIRAs) in addition to other risk and control framework monitoring tools (i.e.

· Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

· MBA, CPA, or FRM designation.

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Business Controls Consultant to join a leading bank in Toronto on a hybrid basis, supporting the Capital Markets line of business (1b). This role is essential for maintaining the effectiveness of internal control frameworks and ensuring compliance across the organization. The successful candidate will serve as the First Line of Defense (LOD), overseeing risk management activities, including audit support and compliance reporting.

Risk Assessment & Control Management

· Assist in the completion of Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) for Capital Markets lines of business (LOBs) in addition to reviewing Operational Risk Incident Reports and Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRA).

· Identify and remediate risk exposures and control gaps within Capital Markets processes.

· Develop and implement control improvement strategies aligned with regulatory and internal frameworks.

· Analyze operational losses and root causes; propose actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Control Testing & Risk Consulting

· Perform design and operating effectiveness testing of Capital Markets controls per the organization’s risk and control framework.

· Clearly communicate findings, root causes, and enhancement opportunities to senior management.

· Oversee risk management requirements, including audit support and compliance reporting.

Ongoing Monitoring and Reporting

· Use well established risk monitoring tools, such as Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Operational Losses and Issues to maintain a pulse of the internal risk environment

· Partner with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective actions and strengthen control environments when risks are outside of our organization’s risk appetite.
