Job Specifications
Location of role Oxford, UK
Department Protein Engineering
Key Responsibilities Purpose of the role
We have an opportunity in our Research Group for a 12-month placement (Year in industry). We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who would relish the chance to learn from Immunocore’s cutting edge science and corporate growth.
The aim of this project is to generate an experimental dataset to assist the validation of a computational polyspecificity and developability workflow. The successful candidate will produce a diverse panel of VHH molecules, which will be run on multiple polyspecificity assays, generating the required data to compare to computational predictions and assess the performance of the in silico tools. The candidate will have the opportunity to use high throughput automation approaches and collaborate with the developability and in silico groups within research.
Key Responsibilities
The successful student will use molecular biology techniques (PCR and cloning) to produce constructs, in bacterial and mammalian expression vectors. After plasmid production, the student will use peri-plasmic expressed samples of the molecules, to be used in polyspecificity assays at the cutting edge of developability research at Immunocore. The candidate will also use CHO cell expression and purification to generate purified proteins, which can be used in assays to determine additional developability properties such as melting temperature (Tm) and aggregation propensity of each molecule.
With this generated data, the student can collaborate with the in silico modelling team and use a combination of computational predications and experimental data to rank existing VHH molecules. The aim will be to generate a recommended set of alterations that could be made to existing molecules to improve their developability properties.
Education & Qualifications
Currently studying towards a Biological Sciences, Biomedicine, Immunology, Biotechnology or (Bio)Chemistry or other related degree.
