As a Junior User Researcher, you will support the planning, design, and delivery of user research activities across a range of digital services and products.

Working closely with cross- disciplinary teams (including UX designers, content designers, BAs, project managers and developers), you’ll help gather insights into user needs, behaviours, and pain points to shape digital services that are intuitive, inclusive, and aligned with user needs.

You’ll also be encouraged to explore how emerging tools, including responsible AI, can support research preparation and analysis.

Role and responsibilities

Working closely with the User Researcher and wider project teams, you will:

Research planning and preparation:

Support the creation of research plans, surveys, discussion guides, and usability test scripts
Prepare materials for workshops, interviews, and testing sessions

Conducting research:

Assist in facilitating usability tests, interviews, and workshops
Help to run client-facing UX workshops with project stakeholders
Support the research team: assisting with notetaking, observation, and documenting insights during live sessions, in some cases using approved AI tools for live transcription, automatic tagging, and rapid note cleanup

Analysis and reporting:

Analyse research (eg. thematic analysis and affinity mapping) and review quantitative data (e.g. website analytics and KPI’s) to identify trends and pain points
Use approved tools, including AI-assisted analysis tools , to organise data and speed up early synthesis.
Support the creation of research deliverables: reports, personas, user journey mapping, information architectures, low fidelity wireframes and prototypes
Present findings to project teams, propose improvements to existing services and identify opportunities for new services based on user insights

Accessibility and inclusive design:

Champion user voices and accessibility throughout projects
Ensure insights reflect diverse user groups
Use AI to check readability, suggest inclusive language, and flag potential accessibility issues (e.g., contrast/readability checks), with manual verification.

Tools, trends, and innovation:

Stay curious about emerging research and design tools and help to evaluate and pilot new methods/tools (including AI-assisted research tools) to improve efficiency and quality.
