Overview of role:

The Scrum Master is the facilitator for an agile development team and serves as a point person responsible for applying the scrum methodology to drive high quality product development. They are responsible for delegating tasks appropriately and ensuring the team is working on the right tasks at the right time. They also want to ensure the team is fully deployed and set up for success to meet the commitments of each sprint. The Scrum Master will work closely with the product owner to translate epics, stories, and other items identified through sprint planning and translate them into actionable tasks for developers. They will have a high ability to organize team activities, problem solve and remove obstacles that impede delivery.

Key deliverables / responsibilities include:

Responsible for facilitating the sprint planning sessions and working with the development team to agree on what can be achieved during each sprint.
Facilitate daily stand ups and help remove roadblocks raised by the team. Coordinate sprint activities and facilitate retrospective sessions to identify opportunities for improvement.
Ensure the development team is aligned and working towards the goals and scope of each sprint.
Assist the product owner with maintaining & prioritizing the product backlog and new requests.
Coaching the development team in self-organization.
Facilitate internal team communication and encourage effective collaboration.
Help teams implement changes effectively.
Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint.
Guide development teams to higher scrum maturity.

Experience and qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Requires 3-5 years' experience in a scrum master role.
Scrum Master Certification is required.
Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability.
Requires advanced interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to influence others.
Self-motivated and ability to work independently and cross functionally.
Experience software development in a large enterprise environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively, demonstrate flexibility and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Highly motivated and collaborative individual.
