About The Role
This role is responsible for Geocycle’s GMA (Greater Montreal Area) market, sales, marketing, business development, operations and logistics. The focus will be centered around identifying potential waste streams and customers for which a cement plant may provide superior value than current disposal options. The position will also develop pre-processing capabilities in the region so as to provide an alternative fuel source to Amrize’s Saint Constant cement plant. Additionally, the position will also work closely with ACM’s teams to develop opportunities to bring in was streams from their primary business. The full cycle of this role will have an impact towards finding solutions to sort/ treat waste streams, logistic solutions, regulatory compliance, adapt to cement plant constraints and find an economic solution that yields sustainable value for the generator and cement operations, with a primary goal of developing supply for Project North Star.
What You’ll Accomplish
Environmental Compliance: Ensures systems and people capabilities are in place for operations to consistently and reliably perform within prescribed permits, regulatory considerations, environmental expectations and company/customer/cement partner policy. Proactively identify environmental issues and coordinate with environmental group to establish environmental policies, processes and corrective actions to ensures governmental regulations are met or exceeded by following best practices and utilizing internal experts when needed.
Operations Management: Anticipates sourcing/operational challenges and opportunities and mobilizes resources to mitigate or exploit them. Direct management of customers and suppliers of alternative fuel and alternative raw materials. Leads contract negotiations with all customers and vendors. Manages interfaces between Geocycle and appropriate Amrize Eastern Canada operational and regulatory leaders to ensure shared understanding of performance, issues, and priorities. Aligns market opportunities with cement kilns and/or preparation platform capabilities and constraints – permitting / regulatory, technical / operational, logistic including staging/storage considerations and possible freight channels, H&S and environmental needs, overall quality and sustainability of fuel and/or raw material portfolio.
Commercial Strategy: Aligns and integrates operational and commercial strategies to extract the best sustainable value from the waste marketplace. Executes commercial strategy and aligns/influences co-processing capability of cement partners with respect to non-hazardous alternative fuels and raw materials. Identifies and structures business development opportunities as team lead or contributor as a function of scope, complexity, and resource availability. Develop, articulate and secure pricing proposals and contracts that create value for all key parties involved in a waste to value initiative. Support capital projects and business case development to grow the business.
Business Development: Develops and manages a portfolio of fuels and raw materials to achieve the best sustainable value for the cement operation and balance day-to-day management of existing accounts and waste streams with market development to secure new opportunities. Develop waste streams or byproducts that could serve as viable replacements of virgin fuel and raw materials consumed for assigned cement facilities or preparation platforms – regulatory context, disposal options and all-in costs to waste generators and/or service providers, transportation / logistic solutions and capacity considerations to establish an effective service offer within established guidelines.
Cost & Budget: Responsible for the cost, effectiveness and sustainability of Geocycle-directed waste preparation platforms or partners. Continuously optimizes current financials of business by improving pricing/tipping fee, quality, flexibility around demand requirements and synergies between materials and/or logistic solutions. Contribute to setting annual revenue, volume and profit budgets; analyze the results and forecast on monthly basis and work with all parties to deliver the financial results.
Customer Relation Management: Aid all parties find solutions that mitigate or eliminate risk associated with waste stream management - specifically reducing contamination, health & safety, regulatory, community relations, and operational.
