Xcelligen Inc is seeking a Network Security Analyst I to support an ongoing cybersecurity engagement for a Texas state agency. The consultant will be responsible for evaluating cybersecurity tools, identifying security gaps, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and supporting documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communications.

This role requires strong hands-on cybersecurity experience along with documentation and coordination skills in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate and review existing cybersecurity tools and security controls to identify gaps
Provide recommendations and implement risk reduction and remediation plans
Install, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain security software and hardware tools
Apply system and security patches to ensure compliance with security standards
Monitor network traffic, logs, and alerts for suspicious activity
Investigate security incidents and assist in remediation efforts
Develop and maintain project documentation including:
Project plans
Status reports
Briefings and presentations
Stakeholder communication materials
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyze and resolve complex security issues
Conduct research, interviews, meetings, and workshops to understand organizational goals and challenges
Perform basic project management tasks such as:
Project charters
Risk and resource management
Communication and expectation management
Edit and manage technical documentation for clarity, format, and consistency
Provide progress reports and briefing materials as required

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in:
Cybersecurity tools and controls evaluation
Risk assessment and mitigation
Security documentation and reporting
Stakeholder collaboration
Basic IT project management
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in government or regulated environments preferred

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience in:
Cybersecurity assessment and remediation
Security governance and compliance
Project documentation and stakeholder presentations
Prior experience supporting State or Public Sector clients

Education Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in:
Cybersecurity
Information Technology
Computer Science
Information Systems
or equivalent professional experience
