Rate: £DOE (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: 6 months
Start: January 2026
Clearance: Active SC required
Location: Remote with travel to London 1 day per month (not expensed)

We are seeking an experienced Observability Lead to define and embed a clear, practical approach to monitoring across a modern microservices platform.

This role is responsible for setting standards, shaping tooling and ensuring teams have the visibility they need to identify and resolve issues early.

Key Responsibilities
Define standards for logs, metrics, traces, dashboards and alerts
Help select and configure core observability and monitoring tools
Create templates so new services are observable from day one
Ensure alerts are meaningful, actionable and routed correctly
Ensure sensitive data is handled appropriately within logs and metrics
Support teams in adopting and improving observability practicesEssential Experience
Strong experience leading observability or monitoring initiatives
Hands-on knowledge of modern observability platforms
Experience setting pragmatic standards in complex environments
Ability to work closely with engineers and operations teams
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Active SC clearanceKey technologies may include: Grafana, Prometheus, Alertmanager, Thanos, Splunk, Vector.
