Google Cloud Architect (Contract – Inside IR35)

Location: London (5 days onsite)

Contract Length: 12 months (renewable)

Rate: Up to £450 per day (Inside IR35)

We are partnering with a leading global consultancy to support a high-profile end client on a long-term engagement. They are seeking an experienced Google Cloud Architect to join a fast-paced, enterprise-scale cloud programme based in London.

Role Overview

As a Google Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and securing cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a strong emphasis on identity, security, and governance.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud Platform
Apply best practices for cloud security, compliance, and governance (IAM, encryption, key management, org policies, deny policies)
Participate in IAM governance and compliance audit activities
Deliver “secure by design” solutions with defence-in-depth principles
Work in an agile environment with a strong focus on feature delivery
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and security teams

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years’ applied experience with formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
Strong hands-on experience with GCP services including:
Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery
Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, GKE (Kubernetes Engine)
Deep experience with Google Identity & Access Management:
Google Identity, OIDC Federation, Workload Identity Federation
Role management and access controls
Strong understanding of authentication and authorisation protocols (SAML, OAuth, OIDC)
Experience with serverless and event-driven architectures (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub)
Proficiency in Terraform and scripting using Python or GoLang
Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams

Preferred (Nice to Have)

Exposure to other cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)
SQL experience
Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Google Cloud Associate or Professional certifications
