Job Title: Mainframe Developer – CICS Web Services

Location: London / Hybrid

Contract Type: Contract

Duration: 6 months (extendable)

Rate: Inside I35

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong CICS Web Services expertise to join a critical delivery programme. The role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting secure, scalable mainframe-based services integrated with modern REST and SOA architectures.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile/DevOps environment, contributing to both legacy modernisation and new service development initiatives.

Mainframe development
CICS Web Services

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong experience working with z/OS Connect EE and DB2 REST services
Extensive hands-on knowledge of CICS Web Services
Development experience using:
File-AID
Xpeditor
IBM Explorer for z/OS
Visual Studio
Proficiency with SOAP, WSDL, and JSON
Solid understanding of SOA and RESTful API architectures
Experience using development and collaboration tools:
GitLab
Endevor
JIRA
Confluence
Knowledge of security integration patterns including:
Basic Authentication
Mutual TLS (mTLS)
OAuth / JWT
Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins

Desirable Skills & Experience

Java development experience, including:
Strong foundation in Java (OOP and functional programming – Java 8+)
Familiarity with Spring Boot, including annotations and configuration
RESTful API development
IBM DataPower experience
Development experience using:
XSLT
GatewayScript
XPath

Nice to Have

Experience supporting or modernising legacy mainframe applications
Exposure to enterprise-scale integration platforms
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
