Job Specifications

Our client in the insurance space is seeking a contract based Technical Business Analyst. The role will focus on their Agile product development initiatives. This role blends BA responsibilities with hands-on technical analysis, Agile facilitation, and light Scrum Master duties.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with developers, troubleshooting data issues, and translating business needs into well-structured user stories.

Location: some hybrid - Toronto

Duration: 6 months + 6 months extension

Responsibilities:

Elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements in an Agile environment
Write high-quality user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria for development teams
Act as a Scrum Master / Agile facilitator as needed (ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning)
Partner closely with developers, QA, and product owners to clarify requirements and remove blockers
Perform technical troubleshooting and analysis, including:
Writing and executing SQL queries to validate data, investigate defects, and support root cause analysis
Analyzing system behaviour, data flows, and integration points
Support UAT planning, execution, and defect triage
Maintain documentation such as process flows, data mappings, and solution artifacts
Serve as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams

Requirements:

8+ years of experience as a BSA/BA, with strong technical exposure
Proven experience working in Agile / Scrum teams
Hands-on experience writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria
Experience acting as a Scrum Master or Agile lead (formal certification is a plus)
Strong SQL skills for querying and validating data
Solid understanding of application architectures, APIs, and system integrations
Ability to troubleshoot issues across business logic, data, and technology layers
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
