We're a housing association, here to provide safe, affordable homes and to build stronger communities across the Midlands and we're offering students the chance to intern in our Risk & Assurance team — where you'll support real audit work, emergency planning action, risk management and counter-fraud initiatives that help us deliver safe, fair, and effective services to tenants.

12-Month Internship: Starting 7th September 2026

Your Role:

You'll apply your academic knowledge to real-world organisational and compliance challenges – working alongside and supporting our experienced Risk & Assurance professionals by getting involved in live audit work and gaining exposure to areas including continuous auditing, emergency response planning, risk management, counter fraud and recommendation tracking.

Your day to day will include:

Managing central safety records and support audits by checking that rules are being followed and suggesting improvements.
Gelping report audit results to senior leaders and track "to-do lists" to ensure all recommended changes are finished on time.
Supporting emergency planning by helping to launch response plans and checking that they work effectively.
Help design scenario-based practice sessions to test how we handle a crisis and provide feedback on our performance.
Assisting with risk management by helping teams across the business identify and track the biggest challenges they face.
Supporting fraud prevention by helping with investigations and creating staff training to stop fraud before it happens.

What we're looking for:

Currently studying (or recently completed) a degree in Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, Business, or another relevant degree.
Strong research and written communication skills.
Ability to analyse information, identify risks, and present findings clearly.
Attention to detail, organisation, and ability to handle confidential information.
Enthusiasm, openness to feedback, and a genuine desire to learn.
