Director of Marketing & Communications
Location: In office (3–4 days per week - non negotiable)
Reports to: Executive Leadership and Chief Brand Officer (Founder)
Pay: 115,000-125,000 | PTO | Health, Dental, Vision, 401k
Owns and Manages:
Copy and messaging across all channels (web, app, retail, lifecycle, education)
Campaign strategy, execution, and launch readiness
Product launch workflows, timelines, and cross-functional coordination
Marketing workflows, SOPs, and internal communication systems
Cross-functional marketing initiatives spanning Product, Sales, Retail, App, Ops, and Compliance
Does
Comes in knowing they don’t know anything and must truly learn the brand by asking 1000’s of important questions
Writes copy and storytells and TRULY and DEEPLY understands the BRAND.
Gives direction and executes without missing a beat through chaos
Keeps teams organized with clear ownership and timelines
Works closely with the Brand Director on vision and execution
Partners with Product to align marketing with supply chain and production
Gets in the weeds to ensure quality and follow-through (you won’t have the knowledge living in the clouds)
Does Not
Lead only from a high level
Dictate from an “all-knowing chair”
Hide behind delegation or theory
Call themselves CMO
Decision Rights:
Final decision-maker on marketing messaging, launch readiness, timelines, and communication systems, in close partnership with the founder and Brand Director.
Role Overview
The Director of Marketing & Communications owns how turn thinks, speaks, and launches. This role turns product, technology, and cannabinoid science into clear, compliant, high-impact marketing that moves fast without breaking trust.
Operating at the center of brand, product, compliance, growth, retail, and technology, this role builds the structure, narrative, and systems that allow a high-velocity team to move quickly with clarity and cohesion.

turn is not a brand hiring someone who expects other people to do all the work.
We are extremely high-functioning and move a million miles a minute, but we crave structure and guidance.

This role sits in the middle and is not phased by constant pings across Slack, text, email, CRMs, and live conversations.

Core Responsibilities
Brand & Narrative Leadership
Own and evolve turn’s brand voice, tone, and narrative across all touch points
Develop campaign ethos and messaging frameworks for major initiatives and product lines
Ensure consistency across regulated, hemp, retail, E-Commerce, app, and experiential channels
Protect brand integrity while allowing creative evolution
Product Launch Strategy & Execution
Lead marketing strategy for all product launches including hardware, oil, flavors, apparel, and limited editions
Translate technical specs and formulations into clear consumer-facing value propositions
Build and manage launch timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional alignment
Ensure launches are market-ready across sales, retail, digital, app, and customer service
Cannabinoid Education & Scientific Translation
Own cannabinoid education across marketing including THC, THCa, THCp, CBD, CBN, THCv, CBG, live resin, rosin, and distillate
Translate complex science into accurate, accessible consumer education
Maintain compliance-safe language without sacrificing clarity or credibility
Serve as internal subject-matter expert for education, positioning, and claims
Website, PDP & Conversion Copy
Own copy strategy for turn.me, E-Commerce sites, app surfaces, and landing pages
Write and oversee PDPs, bundles, feature callouts, and conversion-focused copy
Collaborate closely with design and UX so copy works within layouts
Optimize messaging for clarity, compliance, and performance
SEO & Editorial Leadership
Define and manage blog and educational content strategy
Research, write, edit, and maintain SEO-driven content
Balance search performance with brand voice and credibility
Establish editorial stan
