This Position reports to:

Senior Engineering Manager

Your Role And Responsibilities

As a Robotics Engineer you will have end-to-end responsibility for software development, testing, and validation for key applications related to logistics and machine tending. Moreover, you will be responsible for the on-site deployment at the customer.

You will be part of our R&D team, a group of experts in robotics, software, vision and control, who is responsible for implementing high innovative products in an efficient and economical manner, meeting the rapidly growing demands of the robotics market.

In this role you will be directly responsible for robot programing and overall application validation. You will also collaborate with our global team and will engage with key functions such as Operations, Portfolio, Supply chain, and Sales.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Translating product requirements into technical requirements
Working out the functional design of the robotic part of the system
Performing technical analysis (e.g., flowcharts, interface specifications, and communication diagrams)
Defining and integrating automation components (hardware, sensors, and actuators) for gripper manipulation and other peripherals
Carrying out functional tests, validation tests, and endurance tests on cell level during product and project development
Taking full responsibility for robot code development (ABB Robot Studio) and path planning
Work with state of the art technologies on vision, enforced learning, AI
Acquiring basic knowledge of C# .NET software tools, in addition to focusing on robot and robot software
Coordinating suppliers for prototyping and peripheral design
Performing simulations, emulations, and commissioning of test cells in our workshop
Executing on-site commissioning and site acceptance tests for customer pilots
Validating product functionality based on the technical requirement document
Contributing to the interfaces definition to 3rd party equipment in development and customer project execution
Writing documentation and providing training to the customer service team

Qualifications For The Role

An Engineering degree in electromechanics, electronics or automation (or equivalent by experience)
Strong mechanical reasoning capabilities to visualize work output
Experience with robot programming, in particular Rapid is an asset
Willing to follow a training programs within our Training Academy regarding our Robotics standard
Solution and pragmatic mindset
Detail oriented with good analytical and problem-solving skills
Capable of contributing positively to group efforts
Able to take framework constraints into account and build creative solutions
On site presence required in Huizingen with 10 to 15% traveling abroad
Fluent in Dutch or French with a good knowledge of English
