Job Specifications

Automation Test SME – Katalon

Wokingham – Office Based (5 days per week)

£450/day (Inside IR35) | 6-month contract

Our client, a top global organisation, is seeking an experienced Automation Test SME with strong Katalon Studio expertise to support the delivery of high-quality web, desktop, and API-based applications. This is a hands-on role focused on building and maintaining scalable automation frameworks and driving test automation best practice across the programme. You will take ownership of automated testing across web, desktop, and API platforms using Katalon Studio, ensuring high stability, reliability, and coverage of regression and sanity testing.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Katalon Studio automation scripts for web, desktop, and API testing
Build and optimise test suites, test collections, and custom keywords using Java and Groovy
Implement data-driven and keyword-driven automation frameworks
Create and execute automated regression and sanity test suites
Debug test failures, analyse logs, and perform root-cause analysis
Work closely with developers, stakeholders, and business analysts to clarify requirements
Integrate and execute automated tests within CI/CD pipelines

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on experience with Katalon Studio (Web and API automation)
Solid experience with Java, Groovy, and Selenium
Strong understanding of Java concepts including collections, interfaces, and constructors
Proven experience building and maintaining automation frameworks
Experience in automated web and API testing
Ability to analyse failures and improve framework stability and reliability

Desirable

10+ years’ experience in test automation
Experience testing desktop applications
CI/CD integration experience
