Head of Supply Chain – Contract 3-6 months

Location: South Wales

Salary: Up to £85k DOE

Job Type: Contract (3-6 months)

4 days per week in the office

We are seeking an experienced interim leader to manage the full supply chain for a global B2B manufacturer. Over this 3-6 month period, you will take charge of everything from planning and purchasing to shipping and customer service, ensuring all systems are reliable and costs are tightly controlled. As a vital member of the leadership team, you will strengthen the department, streamline workflows, and ensure operations are robust enough to support a rapidly expanding business.

The role:

Leading the planning, purchasing, logistics, and customer service teams while mentoring staff and setting clear targets.
Managing the end-to-end process from forecasting to delivery, ensuring MRP/ERP systems are accurate and stock levels are optimized to improve cash flow.
Leading global supplier negotiations and finding backup sources to protect the business from risk, all while driving cost-saving initiatives in purchasing and freight.
Overseeing warehousing and shipping to ensure on-time delivery and full compliance with import/export regulations.
Working with Sales and Finance to ensure supply capacity matches demand and using "Lean" methods to automate manual processes and cut out inefficiencies.

About you:

A track record of leading multi-functional teams and fixing underperforming departments through measurable improvements.
Advanced skills in using ERP/MRP systems and a data-driven approach to managing supply chain risks.
The ability to manage a departmental budget and provide clear performance analytics to the executive team.
A degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering, or equivalent senior-level experience.
Knowledge of SAP - Qualifications such as CIPS, an MBA, or Lean / Six Sigma.

To reach the top of the salary range, you must be a proven supply chain leader with at least 10 years of experience in manufacturing.
