Overview

An established and growing SME, UK-headquartered manufacturing and distribution business is seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Managing Director to lead its next phase of international growth.

The company operates within the global professional groundcare and related agricultural sectors. These markets are driven by increasing demand for efficiency, precision application, labour-saving technologies and sustainable land management practices. Customers include primarily are agricultural products distributors and professional landscaper. The sector is evolving rapidly, with growing demand for battery-powered equipment, improved product durability, and innovation-led differentiation.

The business designs, manufactures and distributes specialist equipment globally through established distributor channels, with strong penetration in North America and growing international reach. Manufacturing is based overseas, supplying a global customer base.

Having achieved significant growth in recent years, the shareholders are now implementing a structured succession plan and are seeking a Managing Director to accelerate expansion, professionalise the organisation and drive long-term value creation.

The Role

· Full P&L and Strategic responsibility for the business

· Drive international revenue growth across North America, Europe and Asia

· Expand into adjacent and consumer garden market segments

· Lead development and launch of new, technology-led products (including powered solutions)

· Oversee overseas manufacturing and global supply chain

· Build and develop the leadership team

· Enhance governance, reporting and operational discipline

The Opportunity

· Scale an already successful international B2B equipment business, elevating from SME to a large business outlook

· Lead a multi-site international manufacturing and distribution operation

· Shape and execute a clear growth strategy within a win market share globally in in principle and adjacent category markets

· Drive innovation in a sector undergoing technological evolution

· Play a central role in long-term shareholder value creation

Candidate Profile

· Proven track record of scaling international B2B businesses

· Strong distributor/channel sales experience

· Experience within tangible product / manufacturing environments

· Multi-location or international operational leadership exposure

· Strategic capability with operational credibility

· Experience of operating in a SME, owner managed/entrepreneurial environment

Desirable:

· Experience preparing a business for investment or sale

· Overseas manufacturing exposure

· Experience in industrial or agricultural or related sectors

· Exposure to product innovation or technology-led product development

Location & Package

· UK-based (flexible within the UK)

· Regular UK board interaction

· International travel required (North America and Asia)

· Competitive base salary (dependent on experience)

· Performance-related bonus
