Co-founded in 2018 by Hjalmar Nilsonne and Daniel Ek (Spotify), we've built breakthrough scanning technology that captures 50 million data points in just 10 minutes using 70+ sensors. We scan for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and metabolic conditions before symptoms appear, making preventative healthcare convenient, comprehensive, and affordable. About The Role
We're looking for a Backend Engineer to help build and scale the secure, high-performance health data platform powering our medical scanning technology. You'll work across the entire chain, from design to deployment, developing APIs, data platforms, third-party integrations, and infrastructure that processes millions of health data points whilst meeting stringent regulatory and security requirements.
You'll be part of cross-functional project teams that include hardware, firmware, ML, algorithms, and frontend specialists. Our engineering teams are organised into smaller groups, each focused on specific goals or deliverables, with the flexibility to be long-lived or short-term depending on the mission.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and operate our backend services, APIs and health data platforms that power our scanning technology, clinical and business operational workflows.
Build and maintain integrations with our proprietary medical devices and vendor-built medical devices.
Manage and evolve our Azure-based infrastructure, ensuring always-on reliability, security, and compliance.
Debug interactions and assist other teams with device communication and backend services (mostly C#).
Balance customer demands with long-term engineering goals, navigating competing priorities pragmatically.
Work flexibly across different projects—from API design and data modelling to infrastructure optimisation and device integration.
Requirements
Experience developing and operating large-scale backend systems in production.
Track record of managing always-on infrastructure and maintaining system reliability.
Ability to balance competing priorities and make pragmatic technical decisions.
Flexible mindset and comfort working across different projects, contexts and tech stacks.
Strong willingness and ability to learn new technologies and domains.
Experience with any major backend programming language (our codebase is C#, but we value strong engineering fundamentals over specific language knowledge).
