Role: Senior Data & AI Governance Specialist
Type: 6 month contract
Location: Hybrid 2x/week in Toronto, Mississauga, Burlington, or Guelph, ON
Rate: $60-$65/hr
JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global is seeking a skilled Senior Data & AI Governance Specialist. This role helps integrate enterprise Data, AI and Information Governance requirements into all AI initiatives so that both the data used by AI systems and the data generated by them are handled with integrity, quality, and accountability. The Specialist plays a key part in advancing responsible AI by guiding teams in applying proper data classification, protection, and lifecycle management practices, and by helping embed governance expectations throughout the AI development and deployment lifecycle. Working collaboratively with data owners, stewards, developers, business sponsors, and governance councils, the Specialist enables the organization to adopt AI in a way that is aligned with ethical, risk, privacy, and data governance standards. This role provides support, guidance, and governance expertise to ensure AI solutions are built and operated using trusted data and sound data governance principles while contributing to the broader maturity of Responsible AI at the company.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
5-8 years experience in data governance, information governance, data protection, or related domains, with experience applying enterprise governance frameworks.
Experience working within formal governance structures such as a three‑lines‑of‑defense model.
Hands‑on experience supporting or implementing AI or ML governance, responsible AI frameworks, or AI risk controls.
Strong understanding of data classification models, protection standards, retention and disposition rules, and data lifecycle management.
Experience supporting the rollout and operationalization of governance programs.
Experience collaborating with cross‑functional technical and business teams during design and build phases of AI solutions.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Certifications in data governance, AI governance, or privacy, including CDMP, DCAM, NIST AI RMF training, or privacy certifications.
