Java Developer – Capital Markets FinTech £70-90k | London (1 day per week onsite)

About the Role:

A rapidly scaling Capital Markets FinTech is seeking an experienced Java Developer to define and drive the backend technical direction of their enterprise-grade platform. You’ll work closely with engineering squads, shaping architecture, improving standards, and ensuring the platform meets the demands of mission-critical financial services clients.

Responsibilities:

Develop high performance Java applications
Own backend technology estate
Work with distributed systems and cloud environments
Guide mid level engineers in the team (c.5-10 developers)
Drive engineering standards, code quality, and delivery best practices
Support scalability, resilience, and performance design

Required Skills:

3/4+ years in senior development roles
Strong background in FinTech or Financial Services (Capital Markets beneficial)
Strong software development experience across multiple languages (Java/ Springboot mandatory)
Expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architecture
Deep experience with AWS
Strong communicator able to influence technical direction
Hands-on mindset - able to review code and validate technical decisions
