Azure Cloud Architect

RedStream is searching for an Azure Cloud Architect to join our client’s team. The person in this role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. They will work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other IT teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure cloud solutions. The role requires expertise in Azure technologies, a solid understanding of container technology and CI/CD pipelines, and the ability to optimize resources for performance, cost, and security.

Responsibilities:

Architect, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure on Azure using services such as Azure Container Apps (ACA), Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Blob Storage, VNet, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and more.
Design scalable and highly available systems that meet business requirements.
Create, manage, and optimize Azure cloud environments and resources (e.g., Network Security Groups, VNets, Entra ID roles).
Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform, CDK
Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps) to streamline deployments.
Write scripts to automate repetitive tasks (e.g., with Python, Bash, or PowerShell/Azure CLI).
Ensure security best practices for Azure services, including network security (Azure Firewall, VPN Gateway), Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), encryption, and access control.
Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure compliance and security (using Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics)
Conduct regular security assessments and audits of cloud environments (using Microsoft Defender for Cloud).
Utilize Azure Cost Management + Billing, Azure Advisor, and other tools for cost analysis and optimization.
Implement cloud monitoring solutions to track performance, availability, and health of applications and infrastructure.
Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and provide on-call support as necessary.
Analyze logs, metrics, and cloud monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Datadog) to troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Work closely with software developers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver cloud solutions.
Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage to reduce costs while ensuring system performance.
Provide recommendations for cost-effective cloud architecture and resource scaling.
Contributes to the definition of IT policies and controls and implements security solutions that are in alignment with the IT policies and controls.
Required to produce and update documentation on infrastructure configuration, maintenance runbooks, and monitoring baselines. (Word and Visio)
Provide technical guidance and support for cloud-based initiatives.
Document architecture, design decisions, and operational procedures for internal and client use.
Contribute to the conversation and defining of future technology roadmap
Stay updated on the latest Azure features and services, and evaluate their potential to enhance cloud solutions.
Participate in architecture reviews to propose new solutions and improvements.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

Candidates must possess proficiency in public and hybrid cloud models.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Visio
Expert understanding of IT hardware and software.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Education, Experience, And Other Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (BA) in Computer Science or related field from four-year college or university; or 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a cloud computing environment.
7+ years of experience in managing an enterprise-level tenant in public cloud computing.

Certifications, Licensures, And Language Skills:

5 or more certifications preferred (examples below) o Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert - Certification Number: AZ-305. o Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Expert- Certification Number: AZ-104. o Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert - Certification Number: AZ-400. o Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate - Certification Number: AZ-500. o Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert - Certification Number: SC-100. o Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate - Certification Number: SC-300. o Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate - Certification Number: AI-102.
