Job Specifications

Description

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support the buildout of a centralized data portal focused on governance, metadata transparency, and business glossary capabilities. This role will play a critical part in defining how data is structured, documented, and understood across multiple applications and databases.

This is not a traditional reporting or dashboard-focused position. Instead, the emphasis is on metadata clarity, data lineage, governance structure, and improving visibility into how data elements are defined and used across the organization.

You will partner closely with senior stakeholders and consulting leadership to translate business needs into structured, well-documented data frameworks.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Analyze and document data fields, schemas, and structures across multiple applications
Support the development of a centralized data portal and business glossary
Define and maintain metadata standards and data definitions
Perform advanced SQL analysis to validate, reconcile, and assess data integrity
Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical documentation
Identify data quality issues and recommend governance improvements
Assist in mapping data lineage and understanding cross-system relationships
Create detailed documentation including BRDs, functional specs, and metadata artifacts
Collaborate with technology teams to ensure alignment on data standards and controls
Present findings and recommendations to business leadership

Required Qualifications

5+ years of Business Systems Analysis experience
Strong SQL skills with hands-on data querying and validation experience
Deep understanding of databases, tables, fields, and schema structures
Experience supporting data governance initiatives or metadata management efforts
Exposure to data portals, data dictionaries, or business glossary frameworks
Strong documentation and requirements-gathering capabilities
Excellent communication skills with ability to engage senior stakeholders
Experience working in financial services, insurance, or regulated industries

Preferred Qualifications

Background in Big 4 consulting or similar advisory environments
Experience at asset management or insurance firms
Familiarity with governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, or similar platforms
Experience working alongside consulting partners
Some exposure to data lineage tooling or data catalog implementation
