Product Owner – Data Management

Role Overview

We are seeking a Product Owner within the Data Management team who combines strong product ownership and business analysis skills. This role will focus on delivering reference data and data management solutions that support business operations, trading platforms, and enterprise data initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and technology partners, translating business needs into clear requirements and ensuring delivery through agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Ownership

Own and manage the product backlog for data management and reference data initiatives.
Define priorities and ensure delivery aligns with business objectives and data strategy.
Work with engineering teams, architects, and stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and reviews.

Business Analysis

Gather and document business and functional requirements for data solutions.
Analyse existing data flows and processes to identify gaps or inconsistencies.
Facilitate stakeholder workshops and translate requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria.
Prepare functional documentation and support testing and validation phases.

Data Management & Governance

Support the implementation of reference data frameworks and governance processes.
Contribute to data standards, quality rules, and metadata definitions.
Assist with data modelling and integration activities where required.

Candidate Profile:

Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities across cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with data governance and reference data concepts.

Tools & Technical Experience

Experience with data analysis and documentation tools such as:

SQL
Excel
Visio
Jira

Experience

Experience in data management programmes or master/reference data initiatives.
Exposure to financial trading systems or energy/commodity markets (ETRM platforms such as Endur preferred).
Experience with data modelling, data quality frameworks, and integration projects.
Proven track record working in Agile delivery environments.
Industry experience in Energy, Gas, or Trading environments is advantageous.
