We’re looking for 1 Business/ Marketing Intern for the summer of 2026. The position will be a hybrid based role where you will work remotely and join us at The Scotts Miracle-Gro corporate headquarters in Mississauga Ontario just west of Toronto. https://maps.app.goo.gl/fQMPACeYuPuMLZFm8
Our internship program is designed to cultivate the professional growth of students through a dynamic work environment. You will report to the Marketing Manager and have exposure to both the Brand and Omni Channel departments. There you will have the opportunity to gain valuable exposure and experience across a variety of marketing functions as you begin to navigate future marketing career options. From Day 1, you will be an integral part of the team with expanding responsibility over the course of the internship. Over the course of 14 weeks, you will work on meaningful projects and have opportunities to learn through coaching and mentorship from industry leaders. We are committed to your development but will also rely on you to bring new knowledge, new ideas, and innovation into our organization.
The Intern will be assigned to both monitor, learn and participate in a variety of both short term executional projects as well as more strategic longer term initiatives. You will be assigned an individual project focused on real world opportunities within their hiring manager’s team.
Projects could include:
competitive review of promotions and brand
consumer insights and data analysis
Omni channel content deliverables
social media content deliverables
The opportunity to present a final project presentation to leadership at the end of the internship program.
Opportunities exist in each of these areas of our department:
Brand Management
This team is dedicated to uncovering and understanding consumer trends, behaviors, and unmet needs within our categories (Lawn Care, Garden Care, Pest Control). They use these insights to shape brand strategies, develop product formats, and create innovative solutions to seize growth opportunities. Brand managers collaborate closely with our agency partners, creating detailed briefs that guide creative development, content creation, and communication strategies through to execution. They collaborate closely with our research and development team and packaging engineers to identify and develop a strong pipeline of product improvements and innovative new products.
Product Development and Commercialization
This team is focused on turning new product ideas into reality. They lead cross-functional teams across finance, purchasing, research and development, brand marketing, packaging designers, suppliers and manufacturing to ensure new products are produced to the right specifications, to the right quality standard and at the right time.
Omni Channel Strategy & Execution
Our Omni Channel team works in partnership with the brand team, taking key brand objectives and creative assets and transforming them into focused and optimized consumer touch points. They are responsible for developing the strategy and execution plans programs, digital partners for activations including: consumer facing and customer advertising and content, in-store display and point of purchase materials, CRM programs, digital analytics and online through social media, consumer facing advertising, in-store display and point of purchase materials, CRM programs, digital analytics and online through social media, influencers and websites (Both Retailer and SMG-Owned sites).
What you’ll need to be successful:
Pursuing a BA/BCOM degree or diploma in business, marketing, or related field
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication
Experience using Google Suite
Experience with Social Media channels
Organizational skills and ability to balance multiple projects, task and priorities
Possess strong analytical skills and ability to use data to identify insights and recommendations;
Ability to work cross-functionally and thrive in a team environment
Passion and interest in Branding, Advertising, Digital Marketing, Analytics, and/or CPG industry
