Job Description:

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking an experienced Project Manager with demonstrated expertise delivering enterprise infrastructure initiatives within third‑party colocation data centers. Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience migrating workloads and infrastructure from privately owned, on‑premises data centers to hosted or outsourced colocation facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing end‑to‑end programs involving hardware acquisition, facility transitions, and production cutover activities, while coordinating across resellers, OEMs, colocation providers, and internal engineering and operations teams. This role requires strong capability in managing schedules, budgets, risks, and cross‑vendor dependencies, with particular emphasis on change management, service continuity, and successful handover from legacy environments to steady‑state operations in a colocation model.

Responsibilities

Drive data center migration project, managing internal, client and vendor project teams throughout the entire project life cycle (technology and application migration discovery, design and execution)
Build and develop the execution plan for the consolidation and migration of applications, servers, storage and network
Manage technical infrastructure teams and application teams to plan and execute migration cutover events
Manage the individual migration plans and event planning (i.e., run books, minute-by-minute execution plans)
Gather documentation and establish project plans/processes Advise client on potential risk, and manage client expectations
Ability to communicate internally to project team, externally to vendor and upwards to senior management
Experience dealing with C-Level and SVP level leaders in Steercos.
Available to work both EST or PST hours based on work demands since vendor may be Toronto based or Vancouver.

Qualifications

General understanding of all data center functions (production operations, network, change control, DR/business recovery, systems management and facilities) with a focus on server, storage and database technologies
Applied understanding of data center functions, technologies and interdependencies: Server platform technologies (UNIX/Wintel--HP Sun/IBM, etc), Storage platform technologies, (SAN/NAS) including hardware and software (EMC/NetApp/Sun/IBM/HP, etc), Server/data center total cost of ownership (TCO), Data center/server operational components (monitoring, management, etc.),
Asset management (experience with tools/process), and other technologies (VMware/virtualization, etc.)
Excellent communication, organization and writing skills are required
Budget, resource requirements and allocation Project schedules and dependencies
Project monitoring and corrective action
Communication mechanisms including project status reports and dashboards, meeting agendas and minutes and executive reports and presentations
Execute change control, quality, risk management and communications throughout the project MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio and Office tools to manage plans, charts, reports and documentation, etc.
PMP certification is desired ITIL and ITSM knowledge and certifications desired

Top Skills Necessary

7+ years project management experience including creating project scope, tracking key project milestones, budget, resource availability and adjust project plans and/or resources
Completed at least 1 data center migration to the cloud, preferably using Azure.
4+ years of experience managing complex infrastructure projects to plan, schedule and execute data center consolidation and relocation projects for various-sized enterprise clients (infrastructure, production operations, storage, network, server, DR/business recovery, continuity practices and IT appliances, etc.)
