Senior Platform Software Engineer, Infrastructure & Reliability

We are seeking a Senior or Staff-level Platform Engineer to help shape the core infrastructure that powers this high-growth platform. This is an opportunity to work at the foundation of a category-defining travel technology company, ensuring systems remain secure, scalable, and reliable as the business expands globally.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will own critical platform systems that enable engineering teams to move quickly and confidently. You will lead efforts across cloud architecture, CI/CD, observability, security, database reliability, and developer experience. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ensure the platform can support rapid growth, high traffic demand, and world-class operational excellence.
This position is ideal for an experienced infrastructure leader who enjoys solving complex distributed systems challenges, building internal tools, and scaling both technology and teams.
What You Will Do
Own and enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of PostgreSQL systems, including tuning, replication, pooling, and query optimization
Design and maintain modern CI/CD pipelines that support fast, safe deployments with automated rollback and progressive delivery strategies
Manage and optimize message queue and background processing systems such as RabbitMQ, Celery, Kafka, or similar technologies
Create internal developer platforms and tooling that accelerate productivity, including feature flag frameworks, debugging systems, and streamlined development environments
Implement infrastructure as code practices using Terraform to ensure reproducible, version-controlled, reviewable infrastructure changes
Architect best-in-class observability solutions using Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, and custom metrics for full system visibility
Lead platform security initiatives including secrets management, network segmentation, compliance readiness, and cloud security best practices
Partner with engineering teams to define SLOs, manage error budgets, and ensure services consistently meet reliability expectations
Build and maintain container orchestration systems, with Kubernetes expertise considered a strong advantage
Drive cost optimization, capacity planning, and operational efficiency across cloud infrastructure
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of professional engineering experience, including at least 2 years focused on platform or infrastructure engineering
Strong hands-on expertise with AWS cloud services such as EKS, RDS, ALB/ELB, SQS, IAM, and CloudWatch
Deep experience with infrastructure as code, with Terraform strongly preferred
Proven PostgreSQL administration skills, including performance tuning and connection management
Experience operating message queue systems and distributed worker architectures at scale
Strong knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and observability tools in production environments
Track record implementing advanced deployment strategies such as blue-green, canary releases, and feature flag-based rollouts
Solid understanding of modern cloud security, compliance practices, and network protection strategies
Expertise with containerized production systems, including orchestration, networking, and troubleshooting
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain infrastructure concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Background
Experience supporting high-traffic B2B2C platforms, marketplaces, or large-scale consumer-facing systems
Compensation & Benefits
This role offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of approximately $155,000 to $225,000 plus equity opportunities. Final compensation will reflect experience and level.

Work Location
This is a hybrid role based in New York City, with several in-office collaboration days each week and flexibility for remote work on select days.
