Position Title: Workflow Developer
Location Information
Hybrid (Mon–Thu onsite, Fri remote) for candidates in the Kansas City, MO metropolitan area. Open to qualified remote candidates within the United States.
Position Responsibilities:
As a Workflow Developer, you will have a pivotal role in designing, building, and optimizing technical business process workflows using ServiceNow and related Business Process Management (BPM) tools. By translating business needs into scalable workflow solutions, you’ll help achieve greater efficiency and reliability across critical operations.
You will actively collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders, gathering requirements to deliver process automation, streamline business operations, and support ongoing improvements. In addition to building and maintaining business workflows, you’ll play a key role in enforcing standards, training team members, and contributing to strategic initiatives.
Specific responsibilities include:
Building and configuring business process flows within ServiceNow and the Business Automation Workflow (BAW) environments.
Translating requirements from business and technical teams into technical solutions, including user entry forms, automated work queues, and workflow-driven human interactions.
Designing, developing, testing (unit, integration, system, regression), and implementing BPM/BAW solutions through to production deployment.
Mentoring and cross-training team members on best practices for BPM solution development and implementation.
Fully adhering to organizational standards for coding, documentation, and solution deployment.
Developing solutions for data extraction, transformation, cleansing, validation, and loading to support workflow processes.
Supporting complex installations and contributing to large-scale business process change initiatives.
Identifying and driving continuous process improvements; acting as a champion for business partners within IT workflow projects.
Collaborating with IT and business users to enhance system operations, maintenance procedures, and documentation quality.
Advocating for organizational change initiatives and aligning workflow solutions to evolve with strategic business priorities.
Contributing to the long-term technology roadmap for workflow management and automation.
Essential Skills, Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience supporting and/or designing application technologies — or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Extensive, hands-on experience as a ServiceNow Developer or Architect, with a solid background in Financial Services Operations (FSO), addressing scalable, secure, and compliant solution needs in workflow orchestration, incident management, and case management.
Proven ability to design and implement robust ServiceNow architectures that drive operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and enhance customer/employee experience.
Strong track record developing end-to-end workflows within the ServiceNow platform for:
Incident, Case, Problem, Change, and Request Management processes, particularly in regulated environments.
Advanced multi-step workflows including approvals, escalations, SLA management, exception handling, and cross-platform/integration points.
Using ServiceNow Flow Designer, Workflow Editor, Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Policies, Client Scripts, and IntegrationHub.
Financial Services Operations scenarios such as onboarding, customer servicing, compliance/audit workflows, and operational risk management.
Applying ServiceNow best practices, performance tuning, platform governance, and building reusable architecture components.
Experience integrating ServiceNow with third-party systems (core banking, CRM, data platforms, and event-driven architectures via REST, SOAP, or messaging frameworks).
Expertise translating detailed business and regulatory requirements into scalable designs, sound data models, and reliable, maintainable workflows.
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to mentor team members and support cross-functional training initiatives.
Agility in supporting multiple complex initiatives and priorities within an evolving IT landscape.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline (preferred).
At least 5 years of hands-on technical experience designing, developing, and supporting application technologies, with a focus on workflow automation.
Demonstrated expertise with ServiceNow development in a regulated industry (financial services/banking experience is a strong plus).
